... A Serious Man was seriously average. This was a movie I wanted to like, it was made by the Coens after all. It had mostly a good reception out there in critic land and won various awards. The film itself is centred on Larry, a Jewish physics professor, whose life starts to unravel after his wife decides she wants to divorce him for another man. We then meet a string of unlikeable characters who are generally unpleasant and irredeemable as Larry spins out. Overall, I found it self indulgent and sort of dull. Recommendation: thumbs in the middle.

Hmmm I see where you're coming from, but I enjoyed it. Not in a very engrossing way, but in a sit down chill out watch someone elses life kinda way.
But it's certainly not one of the Coen's best.
There was at least a reasonable amount of comedy in it.
